HISTORY OF CHASSIS 56651

Chassis 56651 was a 1985 288 GTO supplied new to Eddie Regner who ran ran an independent auto showroom and maintenance shop, Regner's Auto Sales, in Danbury, Connecticut.

With the help of noted Ferrari collector and author, Stan Nowak, Eddie Regner secured his GTO allocation through the Brentwood Ferrari main agent in Maplewood, New Jersey.

Optional extras ticked at the time of order included Schedoni luggage, electric windows, orange Nomex seat inserts and a matching orange Nomex dash band.

In May 1985, Eddie Regner and his son flew to Italy. Chassis 56651 was signed off on Monday 27th of that month and temporary Escursionisti Esteri tourist plates were fitted (EE 074 AK).

Following a factory tour, the Regner’s took off for a blast around Europe taking some great photographs along the way.

At the end of the tour the car would be shipped to the US for light Federalisation by Berlinetta Motorcars of Long Island, New York.

Eddie Regner enjoyed his GTO on both road and track until the mid 1990s. Chassis 56651 was then tucked away with around 7500km on the clock until August 2016 when Bonhams sold it at their Quail Lodge auction.
